    In our annual agency review, we reflect on a year marked by growth, resilience, and community impact. Our commitment to excellence and industry leadership remains unwavering as we enter 2024 with a bold vision for continued success and advocacy. 


    Reflecting on the past year, we’re honored to share the milestones achieved and obstacles surmounted. We acknowledge that our internal strength directly translates into superior service for our clients and has a positive impact on our community.

    Despite its lingering challenges and continued difficulties, 2023 marked a year of growth and perseverance for us at Morris & Garritano. We expanded into new territories with the grand opening of our Southern California office and welcomed new hires across the nation. We saw public recognition of our reputation as a trusted broker and a desirable workplace by local and national organizations, underscoring our commitment to excellence. Furthermore, our charitable endeavors and community involvement continued with numerous events throughout the year.

    As we navigate the political and economic landscape influencing our industry, we remain steadfast in our leadership. Our people and our clients are the heartbeat of our operations, influencing every decision we make.

    Entering 2024, we strive to continually enhance ourselves and maintain our position at the forefront of the industry, advocating tirelessly for our clients.


    Growth & Expansion

    As a steadily growing and nimble independent agency, we leverage strong carrier partnerships to advocate for our clients effectively. Growing sustainably and in-line with our vision and goals, we welcomed 39 new team members this year and promoted 13 employees.

    Earlier this year, we celebrated the grand opening of our Irvine office, a testament to our commitment to serving the Orange County business community. Our new location serves as a base for our growing team, expanding our reach in Southern California.


    Service Enhancements

    In our quest to better serve clients, we initiated various initiatives for stronger advocacy and support. Recognizing market challenges, we expanded our product offerings to provide more solutions. Our in-house experts enhanced current resource offerings providing regular, robust webinars and a variety of resources delivered electronically, bringing clients direct access to personalized support.

    We saw a continued interest in our HR in Half an Hour webinar series leading to the development of a regular newsletter bringing HR resources directly to our clients. Furthermore, we enjoyed expanded partnerships with other field experts from Mullen & Henzell Law Firm and Fisher Phillips to bring stronger insights to our clients.



    The M&G workplace culture extends beyond physical boundaries. We’ve ensured our engaging work experience transcends coast to coast, implementing measures to maintain our award-winning culture and fostering cohesion among teams.

    This year, we focused on building a culture of feedback and instituted a stronger use of the platform, CultureAmp, to get better feedback across teams. To build culture among our people, we welcome new hires to one of our four annual New Hire Cohorts, to shake hands and greet one another face to face. In this same spirit, we enjoyed another successful Employee Appreciation Party where our entire remote and local workforce gathered at our SLO headquarters for this multi-day event.



    For those relying on digital interactions, we’ve invested in technology for seamless collaboration. All meeting spaces now support hybrid functionality, ensuring an interactive experience for virtual attendees. Cybersecurity measures have been heightened to safeguard our agency and people working online from any location.

    For our clients, we leveraged our partnership with Mineral, an online HR platform, providing real-time access to training, forms, handbook builders, and more. The use of this benefit was enjoyed by over 900 clients delivering over $100k in value savings.


    Non-Profit Support

    Our commitment to non-profit involvement persisted in 2023. We actively participated in and sponsored events such as Hospice SLO’s Walk for Healing and the Picnic with Purpose: 20th Annual Women’s Legacy Luncheon. Supporting several local initiatives, we also served as a SLO Food Bank Hunger Hero with our donation generously matched by our carrier partner, the Hartford.

    Additionally, the M&G name could be seen in support of Hancock Honors, the Santa Barbara Humane Gala, Atterdag Harvest Fest, CASA of SLO County Gala, Jack’s Helping Hand Imagination Park Fall Classic, Special Olympics of SLO County Tip-a-Cop, Wine Country Runs, Angel’ Foster Care, the Domestic Violence Solutions Luncheon, HRCC, and continued support in community initiatives.


    Industry Leaders

    Proudly positioned as industry leaders, we accepted several recognitions and awards in 2023 and were included among Insurance Journal’s Top 100 P&C Agencies. Our agency’s success in growth, advocacy, and operations earned accolades, including being named a Family Friendly Workplace by the SLO County Chamber of Commerce and a Best Place to Work by the Pacific Coast Business Times for the sixth consecutive year.

    Individual efforts were also acknowledged, with recognition for outstanding client service and leadership including Mark Anelli as P&C Agent of the Year and Kim Garcia and Sam McCleary as MVP Account Managers. Ben Hoover, Daniel Vordale, and Derrick Martine were honored with UBA Producer Awards and Martine Domingues was inducted as the Board President for IIABCal (Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of CA).

    Our involvement in events and speaking opportunities showcased our expertise, further solidifying our standing as industry leaders. M&G’s voice was represented at the Santa Barbara Contractors Association by Kely Blackburn, Michael Schedler, Nick Sullivan, Daniel Vordale, and Travis Biegel. Martine Domingues was a guest on Good Morning SLO and Susan Appel was welcomed as host at Hancock Honors.

    Since 1885, we’ve served our region as trusted advisors, and now, with an expanded team spanning the entire state and nation, we’re primed to extend our reach. Dedicated to staying at the forefront, understanding market trends, and leveraging technology, we remain committed to offering exceptional advocacy and service.
